The endless speculation about Parker leaving to Spurs is over with until the next transfer window and our 25-man squad has been finalized. By the time January rolls along it`ll be interesting to see how the next four months went.

The 25-man squad in all it`s resplendent glory is (HG = Homegrown):

Robert Green (HG), Ruud Boffin, Tal Ben Haim, Manuel Da Costa, Daniel Gabbidon (HG), Herita Ilunga, Lars Jacobsen, Winston Reid, Jonathan Spector (HG), Matthew Upson (HG), Luis Boa Morte, Valon Behrami, Jack Collison (HG), Kieron Dyer (HG), Julien Faubert, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Radoslav Kovac, Mark Noble (HG), Scott Parker (HG), Pablo Barrera, Carlton Cole (HG), Zavon Hines (HG), Benni McCarthy, Victor Obinna, Frederic Piquionne.

We can also use any number of under-21 players:

Marek Stech, Jordan Brown, Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson, Matthew Fry (on loan), Callum McNaughton, Jordan Spence, James Tomkins, Anthony Edgar, Olly Lee, Junior Stanislas, Ahmed Abdulla, Cristian Montano, Frank Nouble, Freddie Sears.

The most annoying thing about our 25-man squad is that Collison and Hines are probably out until January anyway. I wonder if we missed a trick by not signing a couple of free agents just to give us more options. I`m sure we could have found a half-decent left-back to cover Ilunga and thus spare Spector the misery (or the need to press Jordan Brown into service before he`s ready).

It`s hard not to think we have a stronger squad than last season considering this transfer window has seen us sign eight players and only sell two. Having said that I think we`ll miss the unpredictability of Diamanti off the bench and who knows if Behrami wants to be here anymore?
