West Ham’s £18M-rated star needs the chance to demonstrate his worth

|

We’ve endured a troublesome start to the new Premier League season. Three successive defeats, a new regime, and a plethora of new players mean that we must quickly adjust and discover our best form. And, one of our summer signings could be crucial to reviving our best form.

Andriy Yarmolenko’s summer arrival was justifiably the subject of great excitement among West Ham supporters, a player of his calibre and experience could prove to be of exceeding benefit as the club looks to advance and heighten its status both on and off the pitch.

Nevertheless, and while the season is still in its infancy, the Ukrainian international hasn’t been awarded sufficient opportunities to demonstrate his worth. As a traditional winger, Yarmolenko’s involvement may have been limited due to Manuel Pellegrini’s tactical indecision – it’s apparent that the former Manchester City manager is still trying to identify the best formation for the club.

That said, a player of Yarmolenko’s quality shouldn’t be ignored for much longer, and tonight’s Carabao Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon could present the 28-year-old with the perfect opportunity to demonstrate his significance. He is valued at £18M by transfermarkt.

In his career (so far), the former Borussia Dortmund player has amassed a stunning total of 143 goals in 370 club appearances. His record at international level is equally impressive, having amassed 35 goals in 77 appearances for Ukraine.

We are in desperate need of a player of his invention and ruthlessness in front of goal, and it’s crucial that we utilise him this season. Naturally, he may not be as defensively proficient as the likes of Antonio, but his stupendous attacking ability shouldn’t be discarded.

While his Bundesliga career failed to progress as he hoped, he’s unequivocally a talented player and one that could play an incontestably crucial role for us this season. It’s vital that we utilise his talents.
