West Ham reject £8.9m bid from European side for misfit

|

West Ham have progressed significantly under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini and the Hammers wasted no time dipping into the transfer market in the summer, splashing over £100m on new recruits.

Pellegrini’s new-look squad has caught the eye but there is still work to be done and the attention may now shift towards outgoing pieces of business to make room for further additions – but West Ham are standing firm on their demands.

Sky Sports states the Hammers have rejected an £8.9m bid from Fiorentina for the services of midfielder Pedro Obiang, who has featured 18 times for the club this season, as they will only approve a departure if they are able to secure a replacement.

With Declan Rice and Mark Noble established as Pellegrini’s first-choice pairing in the heart of midfield, Obiang’s position in the squad is under threat but the Hammers are not willing to buckle in their demands as Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere have struggled with injury issues.
