West Ham playing dangerous transfer game by putting all of their eggs in one basket – Opinion

|

According to reputable West Ham United source Claret and Hugh, we are thought to be focusing our attention on completing a double deal for Maxi Gomez and Stanislav Lobotka this summer.

It is claimed the Celta de Vigo pair are our main priority and we will not look to do any other significant deals until negotiations are concluded.

Now, we are all for trying to get this double deal across the line – Gomez would be the striker we have been desperate to have in our squad for what seems forever whilst Lobotka would, perhaps, be the ideal partner for Declan Rice in the middle of the field for many years to come.

However, putting all of our eggs in one basket regarding the duo does appear to come across as a rather dangerous game.

There does not appear to be anything to suggest that a combined fee of £50-£60million (Claret and Hugh) will be enough to convince Celta de Vigo to sell the pair to us, whilst there is no reason to guarantee that they will choose to join us instead of any other possible destinations that might become available.

Admittedly, trying to get a deal done for them as quickly as possible with all our focus makes plenty of sense, but what happens if we fail to get them across the line? What if the time that would be ultimately wasted means we miss out on any of our other targets this summer?

Surely, we would be better off keeping our options open just in case the worst scenario happens and not miss out on any other crucial needs we have ahead of the upcoming campaign.
