West Ham planning major squad changes in the summer, which should delight fans – report

|

West Ham United could be about to delight a lot of supporters by allowing a lot of the squad’s deadwood to leave the London Stadium, as per a recent report by Football.London.

It is claimed that Manuel Pellegrini looks set to roll up his sleeves once again to continue the rebuilding mission he started upon replacing David Moyes last summer.

In his maiden window in East London, the Chilean flogged the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate and Reece Burke, while opening the door for Sam Byram and Jordan Hugill to leave on loan – potentially in order to increase their stock this year.

Now, a mass exodus of first-team regulars rather than fringe flops could be about to happen and add to our transfer war chest.

Football.London are claiming that Arthur Masuaku, Pedro Obiang, Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Javier Hernandez are all set to be on the chopping block at the end of the season.

There were plenty of reports in the January window suggesting that Obiang and Perez could leave the club if we were able to sign a replacement to the midfielder and received a worthwhile offer for the ex-Arsenal man.

With Masuaku the clear number two for Aaron Cresswell now, and unlikely to rival Felipe Anderson further up the field, the DR Congo international’s future in Claret and Blue looks bleak, too.

As for Carroll, the former England international’s lack of form since returning from his latest injury has offered the 30-year-old little hope of earning a new contract, and improving the striker position is understood to be a top priority.

The most surprising addition on the list of deadwood potentially heading out the door has to be Hernandez, though, as despite his lack of form in front of goal, the £10.8million rated Mexican has regularly been a member of Pellegrini’s squad.

His departure for anything near his TransferMarkt valuation will surely delight the fanbase, however, as a return of 14 goals in 55 games is nowhere near the level required at the London Stadium.
