West Ham make massive last ditch attempt to sign top target – report

West Ham have made a massive last ditch attempt to steal Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gómez from under Valencia’s noses.

According to ExWHUEmployee, “we are offering almost double what Gómez will get at Valencia”.

The Uruguayan striker, who scored 13 La Liga goals last season, has been West Ham’s top transfer target this summer window, as reported by Ex.

However, the player has had reservations about whether to join West Ham, as he would like to stay in Spain, as reported by Ex, while Valencia’s offer of Champions League football is another factor luring him to Mestalla Stadium, according to El Desmarque.

Having had a long wait while the striker was at Copa América – even though he didn’t get onto the pitch at all during the tournament – things have seemed to move along very quickly now.

According to Ex, West Ham have accepted a £23million bid for Marko Arnautović from an unnamed Chinese Super League side, with the money secured from that deal reportedly being used in an attempt to coax the 22-year-old towards London Stadium.

This whole transfer saga has been a long waiting game, but it seems we will all be finding out imminently whether Gómez will be joining West Ham or Valencia – if the Hammers don’t get their man, it certainly won’t be through a lack of effort.
