West Ham icon offers concerning take on Irons’ survival hopes as pressure stays on Moyes’ men

West Ham United club icon Trevor Sinclair has offered a concerning take on the Irons’ hopes of Premier League survival, despite David Moyes’ side clinching a commanding 4-0 victory over relegation-rivals Norwich City on Saturday.

The Hammers visited Carrow Road at the weekend looking to bounce back from defeat at home to Burnley during the week, having failed to build on victory over London rivals Chelsea with a draw all Moyes’ men could muster away to Newcastle United a week prior.

Daniel Farke’s Norwich are now condemned to relegation at the first time of asking, after Michail Antonio produced the first four-goal haul of his professional career to leave the Canaries rooted at the bottom of the table and 13 points from safety with three games to play.

The result also pulled West Ham marginally further clear of 17th-placed Watford on goal difference, while keeping AFC Bournemouth three points behind following their surprise 4-1 win over Champions League qualification chasing Leicester City on Sunday.

Will Moyes keep West Ham in the Premier League?

Yes

No

Sinclair is far from believing that the job of securing West Ham’s top-flight status is done for Moyes, though, as the London-born forward who scored 38 times for the Irons during a 195 game career in Claret and Blue feels the Hammers still have everything to lose.

“Three cup finals after the results this weekend,” Sinclair noted on Twitter, in relation to the Hammers’ last three games of the Premier League season.

Moyes’ job of securing West Ham’s top-flight status certainly will have to come with instilling the cup final mentality Sinclair alludes to into his players, as the London Stadium natives must play host to relegation-rivals Watford next time out on Friday night before a trip to Champions League qualification chasing Manchester United and hosting fellow strugglers Aston Villa on the final day of the season.
