West Ham future in the board’s hands as UCL heavyweight eyes fan favourite – report

|

The future direction of West Ham could be cast into doubt in the summer, as Real Madrid are planning to move for Felipe Anderson if they fail to land Eden Hazard, according to Sky Sports.

Chelsea’s winger has been a long-term target of the UEFA Champions League heavyweights, who are expected to make yet another approach for the Belgian when the current season draws to an end.

The Pensioner’s possible transfer ban, however, is understood to be another stumbling block in negotiations, as the Blues could ignore the potential payday knowing they cannot replace their key man’s input.

Sky Sports are already claiming that Madrid have seen one bid knocked back for the 28-year-old, said to be around £60million, with Maurizio Sarri’s club instead looking for close to double that.

If Real are unwilling to match their valuation, attention will then supposedly turn from South West to East London, with recently re-appointed head coach Zinedine Zidane keen on our man Anderson.

That £65million price being suggested could represent great value to the board, as we paid just over half that to seize his services from Lazio and have benefited greatly from doing so.

The Brazil international has never missed a starting XI in the Premier League, and has returned Manuel Pellegrini’s continued faith with eight goals –  although none since December 27.

But his influence at the London Stadium could be over within a year if the potential payday is too appealing for the board, and they opt for financial returns over the 25-year-old being a part of our future on the pitch.
