West Ham eye £10.8m-valued hitman in for hunt Ajeti alternative – Report

|

According to an exclusive report from the Sun, West Ham are on ‘red alert‘ for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos – with our club potentially considering an upgrade on flop Albian Ajeti.

Morelos, who has bagged a noteworthy 29 goals in all competitions for the Scottish club this season, is currently valued at around £10.8 million according to Transfermarkt – but the Hammers face competition from Leicester City who are also keeping tabs on his situation at Ibrox.

As per this report, Rangers may have to sell the Colombian if they cannot offload other players to raise their finances, with Gers boss Steven Gerrard potentially having to consider an offer should we come calling for the striker’s signature.

Should West Ham swoop for Morelos?

Yes

No

Apparently, Morelos is the kind of ‘maverick‘ we would love at the club as a potential alternative to record signing Sebastien Haller and an upgrade on £8 million flop Ajeti.

The latter man, who signed for us from FC Basel last summer, has gone on to make just eight league substitute appearances totalling 128 minutes during his time at the London Stadium – all the while failing to muster a single starting spot.

This may bring into question his validity as a strong back-up to Haller going into next campaign, with manager David Moyes and the Hammers board reportedly eyeing Morelos for a potential summer swoop.

According to WhoScored, Morelos has bagged more goals and assists combined in the league this season than both Haller and Robert Snodgrass – which could highlight the fact he would be a worthy addition to our side even if he does ply his trade in a less competitive division.

Taking this into account, and his debatable bargain valuation, a swoop for the 23-year-old may well be a smart move.
