West Ham confident in agreeing new deal with Manuel Lanzini

West Ham are increasingly confident that they can agree a new deal for Argentine playmaker Manuel Lanzini.

Claret and Hugh and Football London both report that the east London side are growing in confidence in tying down Lanzini to a new long-term contract at West Ham that could see the 26-year-old playmaker have his current £35,000-a-week pay package doubled.

West Ham have a two-year extension clause trigger in Lanzini’s current deal, but the reports state that the club are keen on keeping the South American number 10 with a new long-term deal.

Lanzini signed a four-year contract with the Hammers after the east London side made the playmaker’s loan-move from Al-Jazira permanent after impressing during the 2015/16 season that saw West Ham finish seventh in the Premier League, their joint-highest finish in the English top-flight in the 21st century.

The Hammers were ready to hand Lanzini a new five-year deal last summer as stated in the Football London report, however, a knee ligament injury while at an international training camp in Barcelona with Argentina ahead of the 2018 World Cup ruled the playmaker out for both the tournament in Russia as well as half of last season, with the playmaker making his comeback in February.

With Lanzini now back to full-fitness after starting in both of West Ham’s Premier League fixtures this season, it seemingly appears that club are ready to resume talks with the former Al-Jazira midfielder about a new deal with the club.

The Argentine played in the full 90 minutes in the Hammers’ 5-0 loss to Manchester City in the opening game of the new season as well as last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Brighton.
