‘We have to turn the page’ – West Ham star has taken one positive from Chelsea failure

|

On Monday evening, West Ham failed to get the result they wanted against Chelsea. The Blues were in good form, sure, but it’s fair to say that Manuel Pellegrini’s team was below par.

Unfortunately, it’s not the first time this season that we’ve had an off day. In fact, it’s not the first time in the last few weeks – and that’s a bit of a worry.

Fortunately, it wasn’t all negative for the Hammers, as West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini has identified. Speaking to the official West Ham website, the Argentine has found a positive from the game.

He said: “We were not happy with the result at Chelsea, but we knew that we were playing one of the best teams in the Premier League,” Lanzini added.

He continued: “In the second half we changed our attitude. We managed to have more possession, which is what we needed to do in the first as well. Now we have to turn the page and learn from our mistakes ahead of Manchester United.”

It must be said, there was a big improvement in the second-half. We didn’t manage to score, but we were far more fluid in the attack, whilst we also looked stronger defensively.

It was one of those games that, on another day, could have gone very differently, and unfortunately, that just happens sometimes. At least there’s something that we can take away from the game, namely how well we were able to adapt after the break.

Being able to change and mould to your opponent’s style is always important, and that is sure to win us some points before the season ends.
