Upson and Collins to go?

The last minute transfer panic is nearly upon us, and as usual we are having to deal with stories linking our players away from Upton Park.

Today see Matty Upson being linked with a move to Fiorentina, and fellow centre-back Jimmy Collins with Villa (again). Martin O’Neill was at Ewood Park yesterday, and Zola has said that Villa are in for Collins.

Although we have Gabbidon and Tomkins as centre-backs, and Kovac can play there, it would be bad news to lose both Collins and Upson. If losing Collins means another decent striker in then okay, but both of them?

Upson is our captain and has looked our best defender so far this season, he leads by example, and has made a place in the England squad his own. Losing him would be a big blow.
