Transfer report spells end of the line for experienced West Ham midfielder

|

As per the Evening Standard, Carlos Sanchez is likely to leave West Ham in the summer as David Moyes looks to spruce up the squad and get them into the mould that he wants.

The midfielder has been at the club a while and has plenty of experience with him at the age of 34, but it seems as though Moyes wants to shake things up and, therefore, his career at the club could be entering its final few months – only prolonged by the fact that the season is being drawn out.

The right approach?

Yes

No

Indeed, as per the report, Moyes is looking to sign young, hungry players with a point to prove in the Premier League – much like Jarrod Bowen – and, therefore, Sanchez simply does not fit the bill anymore.

In all honesty, it’s a transfer scenario that is probably for the best.

Ultimately, Sanchez doesn’t overly fit into the side anymore with the players that the club has in midfield and, at the same time, he is not getting any younger.

The club has quite often lumbered itself with players that are no longer good enough and so the idea that Moyes is looking to change that is a welcome one.

It’s one thing saying it and then another thing actually doing it, though, so it remains to be seen who Moyes targets in the summer window – when it is eventually open – and who the board backs him in trying to sign as well.
