Top BBC pundit mocks £7.2m-rated West Ham player, but he’s not wrong

Top BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has hosted an ‘Ask me Anything’ on Reddit, and poked fun at Andy Carroll’s injury record.

The former Liverpool defender carried out the Q&A with fans on Monday, and was asked by one football supporter: “Would you rather fight one Andy Carroll sized duck, or 100 duck sized Andy Carrolls?”

Lawrenson then struck back with: “100 duck sized Andy Carrolls. Because 95% would be injured anyway.”

Our £7.2million-rated centre-forward has been known to develop injuries like nothing, as he has missed 152 games, and counting, through various blows since we took him on loan from Liverpool, where his career took off with a thigh strain.

His latest ankle surgery effectively brought his Hammers career to an end, too, as his contract is set to lapse in the summer and leave the Gateshead-born forward a free agent.

The former England international has even been forced to undergo a second operation on his ankle, since seeing his time in East London come to an end.

Carroll is said to be hopeful that going under the knife again will aid his mission to cure his long-standing issue, even if it means he misses the start of next season.

Should we stick to our guns and let Carroll leave in the summer, his time in Claret and Blue will forever show 142 games, in which he was involved in 51 goals – scoring 34.
