Joe Royle has confirmed he is interested in 25-year-old Hammer Carl Fletcher who has just returned from a loan at Watford. Royle said: ‘Bringing in a new player would give us a big boost. All I can say at the moment is that nothing is imminent. As you know, I have asked about Carl Fletcher before.?

Another Ipswich rumour suggests the Hammers will buy Ipswich striker Dean Bowditch in the January transfer window with cash + a couple of players moving the opposite way. Royle wouldn’t talk specifics but did say: ?Talking generally, if we were to be able to get two players from one sale, then that might have to be considered.

Meanwhile, Pardew is said to be interested in re-signing former West Ham players. Both Celtic’s striker John Hartson and Chelsea’s right back Glen Johnson have been linked.
Pardew has reportedly signed a new four year contract that will keep the manager at Upton Park until 2010.

25 year old Republic of International full back Clive Clarke is now fully fit and gunning for a regular first team place having made his debut in our 1-0 Carling Cup loss to Bolton. He told the club’s website: ‘It was good to play for the first-team. It’s been a bit of a long wait and I’m glad to have got that first game for the senior team out of the way. That’s why I was pleased to get a game in against Bolton. It may have been the League Cup rather than the Premiership, but it was against a very strong team in Bolton and I was delighted to get 75 minutes under my belt. Hopefully I can use this start to push on a bit more and get a few more first-team games in. There’s lots of competition for places in the squad, but all I can do is train hard as use chances like the one I got against Bolton to impress.’
