Academy defender James Tomkins has been named in the England Under-17 squad to take part in a three team tournament in Luxembourg at the end of October.

‘I say to friends ‘I have been East Ended a little bit here’. Sometimes someone will say to me ‘you’re not a West Ham person’. I wasn’t but I am now. Some clubs have fans, we have fanatics’ added the 44-year-old.

Carl Fletcher has returned from his loan deal with Watford and International action with Wales determined to compete for a first team place at West Ham.

On loan Man Utd striker David Bellion is also trying to impress Pardew.

Pardew has said the West Ham players are on a steep learning curve and will use the defeat by Man City as a lesson learnt. ‘It’s a learning curve for this team in the Premier League and it has to be. But it’s only our first away defeat of the season at a very tough place to come and now we need a positive reaction.’

31 year old Tomas Repka has said he wants to leave in the middle of his two year Hanners deal and return to the Czech Republic.

Kevin Keen said that had their chances to get something out of the reserves 2-1 loss to Spurs. He told the official site: ‘It was a game with loads of chances and probably on the balance of chances we maybe deserved something. But I think Spurs perhaps had that bit more quality on the ball at times and that hurt us. In my opinion we could have done better in a few areas of the pitch and we were a little disappointed with our performance on the night.’
