Team News: West Ham fans set for a huge boost when they take on Everton this weekend

|

West Ham supporters have got a lot to look forward to when they take on Everton. Both David Moyes and Carlo Ancelotti are new into their jobs in the Premier League, and this one will be an interesting tie for both sides who have enjoyed upturns in form as of late.

For the Hammers, though, they’re set for some really good news ahead of welcoming Everton to the London Stadium, as it’s been claimed by West Ham insider ExWHUemployee that Michail Antonio will be back in contention for the game after his recent injury.

The versatile attacker has made headlines over the festive period, not least for crashing his Lamborghini into a garden in Balham on Christmas Day (The Daily Mail). However, now, after missing two games through injury the news that he’s set for a return against the Toffees.

At times this season the impressive ex-Nottingham Forest man has shone for the Hammers, and whilst he’s only scored once and assisted once in the Premier League this season (Transfermarkt), the directness of his play combined with his pace and his ability on both feet and in the air make him a real threat.

Everton will certainly be a stern test for the Irons this weekend. In the likes of Richarlison and the resurgent Dominic Calvert-Lewin, they have the ability to score goals aplenty, and if the Hammers aren’t tight at the back then they’ll need to rely on the goalscoring ability of their forwards, including Antonio, to get through it.

Should Antonio be handed a new contract?

Yes

No

Only time will tell if Moyes is prepared to chuck Antonio in at the deep end upon his return, and we will most likely get to see the 29-year-old off the bench, but if he can find his best form in the clash there’s no reason why the Hammers can’t get a big win against the Merseysiders.
