Report: West Ham fringe man claims to be ready for the Premier League

|

Usurping the £45m man Sebastien Haller is not a job that we envy anyone being tasked with doing, but for Albian Ajeti it looks like he’s fired up for the challenge and is relishing the idea of having a go at taking the starting spot off of the Frenchman.

The young former Basel striker joined the club this summer and from the off it was apparent that he was very much joining in the capacity of a backup striker, adding to the depth at the club. However, that could very easily change if he plays his cards right and can shine when given the opportunity to.

That opportunity, cup games aside, is going to be hard to come by unless Haller sufferers an unwanted injury or ends up picking up a suspension. It hasn’t stopped the young Swiss goalscorer from being up for it, as he recently made clear when talking to the West Ham website.

Ajeti said:

‘I feel in myself that the coach trusts a lot in me and I trust him too, and he knows I’ll do everything to get my minutes on the pitch.’

‘The coach knows my qualities and I have big self-confidence and believe I can rise to every challenge.’

‘It’s just important to continue to do my work as well as I can and hopefully more opportunities will come. I am ready, and the coach knows he can put me in every game.’

‘I’m waiting for every game, for the cup games and even in the Premier League. The coach knows it and he can put me in any game he wants.’

It certainly looks like fighting talk from the youngster, and whilst the chances are it will be Haller that continues to hog the minutes in the Premier League, whenever Manuel Pellegrini feels like he needs to utilise his other new striker then Ajeti will be ready.
