Opinion: Looking ahead at the man West Ham need to be wary of this weekend

|

West Ham have only ever enjoyed one win at Dean Court against Bournemouth, and to double that tally they certainly have to perform better than they have done in recent meetings against the Cherries. Eddie Howe’s side have frustrated the Irons in the last few years, but that could be set to change this weekend.

In the last five meetings between the sides, all of which have come in the Premier League, the Hammers have picked up just two points out of an available 15, and their only ever win away at Bournemouth came in January 2016 when they took a 3-1 win away from The Vitality Stadium, as per 11v11.

This weekend marks just the 14th meeting between the sides in their histories, and with both of them currently occupying European spots in the Premier League in the early season, they’ll both surely be desperate to extend their strong starts and keep pace with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City at the top.

To do that, West Ham will be keen for the likes of Felipe Anderson, Sebastien Haller and Andriy Yarmolenko to be at their best, but the man who they’ll need to keep quiet when they face the Cherries may not be the obvious one.

Whilst Callum Wilson, Josh King and Ryan Fraser are all top players capable of winning games on their own, the man the Irons need to watch closely and stop from performing is Liverpool loanee, Harry Wilson. The winger is yet to complete 90 minutes this season in the league, yet he already has three goals to his name, and has looked very sharp.

So far this season the wide-man has averaged 2.2 shots and 0.6 key passes as well as maintaining a passing accuracy of 74.7% despite playing his football in attacking areas, via WhoScored, taking risks and attempting to make things happen. His highlight reel of goals is also an incredible one, and half the battle will already be won should the Irons keep him quiet for 90 minutes this weekend.
