Report: West Ham could receive decision about £6.3m-rated player imminently

Pedro Obiang’s time at West Ham United has been something of a doubt over the last six months or so.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Italy, with several Serie A clubs all thought to have been keen on him in the past.

Last January, Obiang was wanted by Fiorentina in a £10million deal (Sky Sports News) and the Viola might reignite their interest. He is also wanted by AS Roma, as well as former club Sampdoria, according to EXWHUEmployee.

Parma are thought to have joined the race for the 27-year-old’s signature, although it is believed that they would be looking to try and obtain an initial loan deal with an obligation to purchase him next summer (Parma Today).

The clubs from Italy continue to keep coming though as according to a report by Calciomercato, Bologna became interested in the £6.3m-rated (Transfermarkt) midfielder and it seems they could be about to make a decision on whether to make an offer for him imminently.

Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) are claiming Sinisa Mihajlovic and the club’s hierarchy will have a meeting to decide between either Obiang or Velez Sarsfield’s Nicolas Dominguez.

The Equatorial Guinea international could find minutes extremely limited next season with the arrival of Pablo Fornals and, should the likes of Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez remain fit, then his place in the pecking order can only fall further down the line.

Obiang played a bit-part role for us last season, having made 24 Premier League appearances (Transfermarkt), as Declan Rice and Mark Noble thrived in the positions the 27-year-old would normally find himself in.

West Ham should be looking to get a transfer fee out of any possible deal as it will hand them more money in the transfer market to try and find themselves the striker (or two) we need to improve ahead of the upcoming campaign.
