Report: 31-goal ace wants West Ham move as transfer fee agreed; uncertainty in deal

|

West Ham United’s long-running pursuit of Maxi Gomez could be about to finally come to an end – and it would seem a positive outcome could finally be on the cards.

According to a report by Sky Sports, they claim the Celta de Vigo forward is keen on a move to the London Stadium this summer, however, personal terms are yet to be agreed.

It is claimed we have had a £29million offer accepted by the La Liga outfit and are in a good position to capture the Uruguay international as Valencia appear to be struggling to finance any possible move for the forward.

Gomez has been exceptional for Celta de Vigo over the past two seasons and has netted 31 goals in his 71 appearances for the Galician outfit (Transfermarkt). And, with the recent news that Marko Arnautovic wants to leave West Ham again (Sky Sports), bringing a player of the 22-year-old’s quality to the London Stadium is a must this summer.

However, if there is anything that has been learnt over the past few weeks (or even months) regarding a deal for the South American, it is that there can be no certainty around a deal at the moment.

Just earlier this week, according to a report by Marca (via Sport Witness), he was thought to be closing in on a switch to Valencia.

The Spanish media outlet claimed the two clubs wanted to get a deal done this week following Uruguay’s exit from the Copa America with Los Che set to give the Galician outfit Santi Mina and €15million (£13.4m), whilst another player may have been added to the deal as well.

Champions League football also seemed to be something he wanted as well, with The Mirror recently reporting that the 22-year-old was prepared to wait for Tottenham Hotspur to act on their alleged interest – something Valencia are able to provide with him next season as well.

It is not the first time Sky Sports have claimed an offer had been accepted, as they did last month before Faro de Vigo swiftly revealed it had in fact been rejected.

Whether time has helped us in our pursuit of Gomez remains to be seen, although we would not be surprised to see more twists and turns in the road to finally get a deal across the line.
