Praise For Tevez

Striker Tevez reacted badly to being substituted against Sheffield United last weekend, but Alan Pardew is happy with the consequences.

The player has since apologised and the West Ham manager says it is ‘water under the bridge’.

Pardew: ‘His response was perfect. He came in nice and early and wanted to see me and said all the right things.

‘His training has been terrific.

‘He’s shown in the last two games he has a grasp of the Premier League. Perhaps the Premier League has not seen the quality he’s got just yet but he’s shown flashes of it and maybe we’ll see a lot more of it between now and the end of the season.

‘You could put a number of players in that category. Even the team we are playing on Sunday, (Mikel) Arteta didn’t start particularly well and is now a major force for Everton.

‘Quality players get round it in the end. Tevez is finding his route and I think Mascherano will too.

‘They’re contracted to the club and have both shown fantastic commitment since they’ve been here. The only thing they need to progress on is their English.

‘They’ve shown great quality in training from day one. The plan is that they are contracted to the club and I treat contracted players the same way.’
