Perfect Anderson partner: Move for £18m-rated attacker could help transform West Ham – opinion

|

It’s been a very progressive season for West Ham. The Hammers started the season slowly, but having picked up the pace over the last few months, attention has now turned to just how far we can go under Manuel Pellegrini.

Given that it’s only the manager’s first year in London, the best is almost certainly yet to come, and it’s interesting to consider just how he’ll continue to develop the team as the campaign continues.

With the summer transfer window on the horizon, we’re already considering who might be on Pellegrini’s wishlist, and according to the Mirror, one current target is Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

Having emerged as a teenager, Grealish now finds himself at the top of his game, but playing in the wrong league. It’s painfully obvious that he’s better than the Championship, and so for him, a move to the London Stadium could be a logical move.

In terms of what he could offer, the attacker – who is rated at £18 million by Transfer Markt – would give us further creativity and guile in the offensive facet of our midfield, and that’s an exciting prospect. When you consider the fact that we’ve got players like Felipe Anderson, who thrives off of creativity and pace, a move for Grealish makes a lot of sense.

He’s a talented playmaker with energy and bags of technical quality, and he’s only getting better. He’s bagged 4 goals and 5 assists this season, alongside 4 Man of the Match awards (as per Who Scored), and he’s still just 23-years-old.

West Ham will be able to offer him regular football at a high level, whilst he’d help to give us some creativity, some of which we’ve lacked since the departure of Dimitri Payet. What’s not to love?

He wouldn’t be cheap, but he’d be a real statement signing.
