Pellegrini must make potentially divisive call to seal West Ham win vs Huddersfield – opinion

|

Marko Arnautovic has been out of the starting eleven over the last few weeks, and with good reason. We can’t allow players to seek moves away without repercussions, and after his failed to move to China in January, something had to give.

However, we now find ourselves in the middle of March, and it’s time for the attacker to reclaim his place in this team.

After all, there’s no denying that he’s our best option moving forward. He enjoyed a remarkable start to the season, and with 7  goals in the Premier League this term, he’s been one of our most important players in the attack. It’s not just the goals, either, given his fantastic hold-up play, aerial ability and the hard work that he puts in for the team.

Not to mention, Javier Hernandez, who has been relied upon heavily in recent weeks, has really struggled – and he’s without a goal in a number of weeks. If West Ham are going to beat Huddersfield this weekend, they need a striker that they can rely on, and Arnie is exactly that.

Sure, bringing him back may prove to be divisive, as some may be frustrated at the attacker’s commitment, but the reality is that the players that are selected on the pitch must always be chosen on footballing ability. There’s no doubting that, on his day, Arnie is one of our best players – and it makes no sense to leave him out to continue to send a message.

He’s done his time; it’s time for a recall.
