Opinion: West Ham star should be signing of the season contender

|

West Ham’s £29million summer signing Kurt Zouma has been in fine form in the Premier League and is leading the race for being this season’s signing of the season.

The 27-year-old centre back arrived at West Ham on a four-year deal in August from Chelsea – with whom he won the Champions League just a few months earlier.

However, since arriving at the London Stadium, he has carried that experience and playing level to east London – heavily impressing the manager and fans alike with his solid defensive performances.

Now, there are such calls for Zouma to be named signing on the season for his valiant efforts on the pitch. If he can help the Hammers continue in this fine form, then there will certainly be a lot of praise coming his way.

In comparison to other new Premier League signings, Zouma has shone above them in terms of having an impact at their respective new clubs. The likes of Jack Grealish, Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Ramsdale have certainly impressed with their new teams, as well.

However, for the price that he cost, Zouma has definitely made his case to be included in the discussion. He has already kept three clean sheets for the Hammers, and has also recorded 1.4 interceptions, 1.3 blocks and 5.3 clearances per game in the Premier League this season.

Bearing this in mind, he has also played a pivotal role in helping the Hammers jump up to 3rd in the Premier League table, losing only twice and conceding just 13 goals.

Of course, there is still a long way to go until the end of the campaign, but now he has more responsibility than ever to command our defence with Angelo Ogbonna injured.

The France international is definitely in contention to be signing of the season and supporters can only hope he continues his good displays.
