Opinion: West Ham fans should be treated to some debuts given starlet’s recent form

|

It feels like every single time that West Ham’s Twitter account is found tweeting about their young team taking part in the Premier League 2, they’re tweeting about goals and wins. The Hammers’ U23s are a seriously strong side, and once again they got a win on Monday night.

That win takes the pint-sized Irons four points clear of their Manchester United equivalents in division 2 of the Premier League 2, as the likes of Nathan Holland, Conor Coventry, Anthony Scully and Joe Powell amongst others have starred for the Hammers this season.

Their Monday night win was particularly important, as it came against 2nd place Manchester United, and now the Stratford starlets are very well placed to make it to division 1 of the Premier League 2, something the fans should be absolutely delighted with.

However, seeing the youngsters star on this stage is one thing, but the next step for the likes of Holland and the rest of them is progression to the senior side. That step does look a long way away, but with David Moyes in charge and the FA Cup still, a competition that the Irons are in, game time is there to be had.

Of course, with the month being January and the transfer window currently open we could be set to see some of the young Hammers depart the club on loan deals to get senior minutes in their legs, but there is no place to be doing it that will compare to West Ham.

Will this transfer window be a big one?

Yes

No

The only issue with giving minutes to some of these youngsters is that the tried and tested first-teamers get forced onto the bench. However, should Moyes manage to get the balamce right then this could mean brilliant things for both West Ham now and in the years to come.
