Opinion: No shame in West Ham taking low offer for 10-goal misfit

|

West Ham are set to “cut our losses” and accept a £23million deal for Marko Arnautović, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The Austrian misfit has tried to force a move, as reported by Sky Sports and it seems as though most people at West Ham are just fed up with his antics.

Having his brother and agent Danijel spreading negative comments about the club, while Marko causes an uncomfortable atmosphere isn’t going to do the squad any favours mentally.

With the striker, who got 10 Premier League goals and four assists last season, supposed to return for pre season next week, the club are hoping to have him gone without joining up with the squad, as reported by ExWHUEmployee.

This is smart thinking, as it would only be detrimental to squad morale if he was to join up with the team and create an atmosphere because he wants to go.

With this in mind, there is no shame from West Ham’s point of view in accepting an offer that is lower than the amount he is worth.

Pride and stubbornness can lead some to believe the club should stick to their valuation, to show both Arnautović and the unnamed Chinese Super League club that they can’t bully us or force our hand.

However, there is truly a feeling that the 2019/20 campaign can be an exciting one for the Hammers – the hassle of dealing with the 30-year-old’s childish behaviour will only detract from that sense of positive anticipation.

With the player’s age and his recent behaviour being considered, getting £23million for the striker actually wouldn’t be such a bad deal from a Hammers’ point of view in my opinion.

West Ham are seemingly taking the money on offer and letting him go off to China – there is absolutely no shame in this and it is the smart and sensible way of going about the situation.
