Opinion: Latest West Ham transfer target is a sign of an exciting and interesting future

|

West Ham United are thought to be one of the Premier League sides interested in AC Ajaccio teenager Davis Abanda this summer, according to a claim from L’Equipe, with London rivals Crystal Palace also thought to be in the mix.

The 18-year-old is a talented midfield prospect and appears to have an eye for goal, having netted five times over the course of the season for their reserve side in the fifth-tier of French football.

Despite his young age, he is still an individual we could all get behind and do with seeing in the claret and blue in the future.

He would potentially be able to give us the attacking midfielder we have been lacking for a number of years and, although he would certainly be one for the future, he could be the one to make a vital difference for the Hammers when it matters most.

Abanda is clearly the type of player that West Ham should be looking towards as well as our transfer targets in the past have been of stark contrast.

We have been known to sign players on huge and expensive wages that have no potential sell-on fee should we ever look to cash in on them, whilst they usually do not give us a chance to put them in the shop window because of their injury records – we only have to look at Andy Carroll as a prime example.

Things certainly appear to be changing at the London Stadium for us in terms of the players being looked at. If the French midfielder is a sign of things to come, then it could be a really interesting and exciting time ahead.
