It’s been a decent season for West Ham, but if Manuel Pellegrini gets his way, he could be about to take the Hammers to the next level. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport the Hammers have joined the race for Inter Milan ace Ivan Perisic – who stunned England supporters with his performances for Croatia at the World Cup.
Perisic is undeniably amongst Europe’s most highly-rated attacking midfielders, having earnt a strong reputation for his brilliant performances over in Italy.
A physical, tall and robust winger, Perisic is, in many ways, suited perfectly to the Premier League. He’s strong and powerful, and that’s unique for an attacking midfielder, whilst his height and frame further diverge him from the atypical attacker.
It hasn’t been the best season of his career, but he was brilliant at the World Cup, whilst he’s been one of Inter Milan’s best players over the last few years.
Of course, West Ham have Felipe Anderson at present, and the prospect of him linking up with Perisic should be enough to make West Ham fans very excited indeed. With such excellent pace, direction, dribbling and agility, the pair would be deadly together, and that would take the Hammers to the next level.
With West Ham looking to force their way up the table and start competing for silverware, Perisic could be an ideal voice in the dressing room too. Having won a number of honours in Germany, as well as his aforementioned World Cup run to the final, the Croatian comes with bags of experience.
With all that considered, there’s no doubting that Perisic has the talent to take West Ham to the next level.
