Opinion: £24m West Ham man is starting to show what he’s worth

|

West Ham fans may have had to wait a very long time for it, but it looks like the Hammers are finally getting to see their Spanish sensation Pablo Fornals at his very best, and is it has happened, that form has also come at the same time as the Irons have picked up form.

The attacking midfield man may not have got off to the greatest of starts in English football after his £24m move from Villarreal over the summer (BBC), but the U21 European Champion is now proving that he was worth the money that was paid for him and then some.

In footballing terms, at just 23-years-old Fornals is still a young player, however, he’s got over 120 La Liga games under his belt and a combined 30 goals and assists in the Spanish top-flight (Transfermarkt), and now he’s starting to shine in the English top-flight too.

On Sunday the Spaniard grabbed what was just the third goal of his West Ham career when he scored late on to double the Irons’ lead over Gillingham at Priestfield, and hopefully, with that goal we’ll see a greater level of confidence and an even higher level of performance from the midfield man.

Alongside the likes of Felipe Anderson and Sebastien Haller, Fornals has looked sublime under David Moyes so far, even though we haven’t seen an awful lot of him under the tutelage of the Scot. Should Fornals continue to blossom, he’ll be one of the top players in the division, and it’s certainly something the fans are baying for.

Will Pablo Fornals come good at West Ham?

Yes

No

Manuel Lanzini has so often been relied upon as one of the creative hubs at The London Stadium, but with the responsibility now able to be shared amongst two technically gifted midfield men in the Argentine and Fornals, the future certainly looks bright for the Stratford club.
