“One of the best” – Pellegrini hails very impressive West Ham ace ahead of this evening’s game

|

There are some fantastic players at West Ham, many of whom were brought to the club for big money. Felipe Anderson obviously sticks out, whilst Marko Arnautovic is another good example.

Lukas Fabianski joined West Ham for £7.2 million in the summer (via Transfer Markt), but the goalkeeper has already proven to be worth his weight in gold.

Ahead of West Ham’s tie with Man City, Pellegrini has been discussing his goalkeeper, and it’s hard to disagree with what he’s said: “Without comparing with other goalkeepers I think Lukasz has so far had a brilliant season and hopefully he will finish the season in the same way.

He continued: “I think he’s one of the players this season one of the best goalkeepers in the league…[He is a] Perfect professional in every sense. He’s always listening to his coach (goalkeeper coach Xavi Valero), he’s always working hard, he has no problem if he doesn’t play, so he’s a brilliant professional.”

It’s not often that a 33-year-old player moves clubs and becomes a regular starter, not least in the Premier League, but Fabianski has deserved every minute that he’s gotten in the English top flight.

He’s made 27 starts in the league so far, and he’s impressed throughout. It doesn’t seem like age has had any impact on his agility or his mobility – as he’s only gotten better with age.

How long he can keep that up for remains to be seen, but judging by Pellegrini’s comments, Fabianski will continue to be a very useful asset for West Ham long after his days as first-choice are over. But for now, he’s easily one of England’s best.
