Report: West Ham ‘holding fire’ on transfer of in-demand £12m ace as rival bid refuted

|

West Ham United are ‘holding fire’ on any potential summer move to sign Nottingham Forest full-back Matty Cash, according to Football Insider.

Cash is highly in-demand following Forest’s failure to secure promotion into the Premier League, with the Irons said to be rivalling Southampton and Sheffield United in the race for the 22-year-old right back’s signature.

But the Hammers are not making any sudden moves to jump up the order, as David Moyes’ east London outfit must first offload some senior stars to afford a transfer of the full-back valued at £12million.

West Ham will continue monitoring Cash’s situation at the City Ground whilst they look to sell players no longer needed at the London Stadium, where the Irons have already parted company with Pablo Zabaleta and Jeremy Ngakia.

Is Matty Cash worth £12m?

Yes

No

In a boost to West Ham’s cash-conscious position, the Hammers are at least not having to worry about a potential rival bid from Burnley as LancsLive understand the Clarets have not made a move to sign Cash this summer.

Burnley had been linked with interest in the full-back after his impressive Championship campaign, but are not believed to be pursuing Cash as a transfer target at present.

Southampton have also stepped up their interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker-Peters, with reports suggesting the Fulham target is poised to join the Saints on a permanent deal for £12m following his time there on loan.

Cash will likely be on the move this summer regardless, though, so West Ham will likely only have a small window in which to sell players before the defender is off the market and potentially preparing to line up against Moyes’ men next term.
