Some Irons supporters have been reacting online after West Ham Fan Zone shared a claim made by ExWHUemployee on the West Ham Way podcast, suggesting Aaron Cresswell could be moved on in the summer.
The £50,000-a-week left-back had been sharing duties with Arthur Masuaku following Manuel Pellegrini’s arrival last summer, but seemed to have nailed down a place in the starting eleven when the boss handed him the captain’s armband against Southampton in December.
Cresswell followed up his leading role in our 2-1 win at the Saints by starting twelve of our next 15 league games, before missing the end of the season with a minor knee problem.
The £9million-rated former England international also averaged 1.6 successful tackles per 90 minutes from 2.3 attempts a game, along with 1.3 interceptions, 2.4 clearances and 2.5 blocks shared across shots, crosses and passes from his 20 Premier League appearances under Pellegrini.
Masuaku, though, on average edged Cresswell for successful tackles with more completed than his elder teammate attempted, as well as interceptions and clearances.
That’s why some supporters would be sad to see Cresswell leave, while others feel Masuaku deserves to be favoured…
He’s literally been good this season but it’s all forgotten cause Masuaku has come back and had 2 good games https://t.co/QHh225MZCA

he literally hasn’t been good this season

It’s a tough one. Hasn’t looked up to standard since 15-16, got back to being functional and not a liability this year. He’s been fine, but not what we need to push forward imo

Fredericks and Masuaku are the only two backs worth moving forward with next season

Yeah but he’ll be 30 in December, Masuaku is still 25, might aswell get money for Cress whilst we still can

Bang average player, Masuaku much better imo

Sad to hear it. Like Cress but he’s been off the boil for a couple of seasons now.

Would be a shame to see him as I quite like him as a player. Prefer him over Masuaku personally.

????????????????????????????????????????

Would be such a shame but he hasn’t excelled since we’ve moved grounds.

Noooo he stays ,Masuaku goes if any of our left backs go

Nooooooo. Always liked Cress, he actually can be a good left back on his day, but hasn’t had his day since Arsenal at home????
