News: Lesser-spotted West Ham man returns to training, but won’t play for another month

|

West Ham fans don’t often get to see Jack Wilshere play football, he’s only made 16 appearances for the club since signing in summer 2018 (Transfermarkt), but now there are reports that he could be set to make a return to action after he returned to light training.

The ex-Arsenal and England man has been out for most of his West Ham career with an array of injuries, but the current problem that has him sidelined is a hernia that he had operated on last month, although it has been claimed that he’s returned to light training in recent days.

However, as the news of Wilshere’s injury has come from Football Insider, the same article has also claimed that he won’t be set for a return for around a month as he looks to build up his fitness and get back to 100%, by which point Tomas Soucek should also be back.

Is Wilshere's West Ham's biggest transfer flop?

Yes

No

The chances are that Wilshere will pick up some other issue before he gets back to fitness this time around, and there would be very few fans who would be too bothered should he never play for the club again and make his exit this summer.

The Football Insider article states:

‘Jack Wilshere has returned to light training in a boost to West Ham as they to avoid Premier League relegation.’

‘The England international, 28, underwent hernia surgery a month ago after initially breaking down in mid-October.’

‘Wilshere is doing work outdoors at the club’s Rush Green headquarters although it is likely to be another month before he is in contention to play.’

‘Manager David Moyes would welcome the availability of the central midfielder, especially as he has just lost new signing Tomas Soucek to injury.’

‘Wilshere is a proven Premier League performer although there are major doubts among the club’s coaching staff as to whether he can make an impact in their survival bid.’

‘Despite the encouragement of Wilshere’s improving fitness, the club are exploring ways to get him off their wage bill ahead of the summer transfer window.’
