Few players at West Ham can say that, this season, they’ve impressed. As a collective, the team has been below par, and we’re expecting everyone to get better – with no exceptions.
Improving can only happen if someone accepts their flaws, though, and that’s exactly what West Ham man Fabian Balbuena has done this week.
In an honest verdict, he said: “I struggled a bit in the first weeks after I moved, but I think I have adapted already, working day by day and I feel good about how things are going”.
It’s refreshing to see players being so open and honest, as we’d have a serious problem if anyone thought that they’d done well so far this season.
Balbuena clearly recognises that he didn’t start the season well, but we’d agree that he’s picked it up as of late.
Without a doubt, our squad is filled to the brim with talent, and if everyone gets better, a top-half finish is a more than achievable target.
Let’s hope a few more players open up and look to build on their form so far over the coming weeks…
