An opening fixture defeat, a heavy one, certainly dampened our pre-season enthusiasm.
Thoughts of starting the season with a decent result fell by the wayside courtesy of a Liverpool onslaught that was, at times, relentless.
Here at Vital West Ham, our immediate reaction after the game was one of doom and gloom, based on the fact we’d spent a fortune on a plethora of new players but hadn’t done any better than in any of our two previous fixtures against Liverpool.
But, letting things settle for an hour or two, hopefully letting the angst dissipate, we delved into the social media network sites to gauge our fellow supporter’s reactions.
It seems that things probably aren’t as bad as we first thought and there were several postings we found backing this view, here are a selection that may, or may not, inspire you to leave a comment of your own or two in the facility beneath this article:
All of your analysis of our team is based off of emotion rather than reason. We just played the 2nd best team in England this year and 2nd best in Europe last year. Give it time.

Spot on goldberg.Liverpool are a class outfit, with a settled side and system that Klopp has built since he has been there.Pellegrini will need time, some good things I saw today, for one our passing stat was 82.8%,(this is Westham we are talking),Liverpool 90%(superb).Need 10 games

Trying to analyze a game against Liverpool and Man City will be pointless we will lose all 4 games as will most teams this season give it a rest

I knew we couldn't win against a Liverpool side who could challenge city for the premier league title it was a pathetic and embarrassing match. but I believe that pellegrini is the right man to take west ham forward.

New players, new manager, new system. Let's give it some time to settle.
