Hammers Lose Reid to Injury

|

With the focus, once again, on West Ham being dragged back into the relegation battle, it looks as if the fight must be fought without a very influential member of the side.

Yesterday, at the Liberty Stadium, Winston Reid picked up an injury that could see the influential Kiwi centre-back side-lined for a considerable time.

The centre-back appeared to over extend his knee whilst also managing to get himself knocked unconscious.

Play was held up for close to ten minutes as the medical staff put his neck in a brace before carrying the player off the pitch on a stretcher.

After leaving the pitch, Winston was taken to a local hospital for a scan.

Following the game, David Moyes had this to say about the injury,

‘Winston Reid is conscious, he was knocked out, we are more worried about the injury to his knee than the knock to his head. He’s an important player for us so we hope it’s not too bad.”

With the Hammers resources already stretched, losing Reid for a significant period of time could be a huge blow.

Get well soon Winston.
