Hammers Announce Bans for Life for Offenders

|

After the toxic scenes we all witnessed in our last Premier League fixture, against Burnley, whereby the action was halted several times by pitch invaders and a mob hurled abuse at the directors` box, it was always going to be a case of West Ham United being seen to do something.

Having escaped playing behind-closed-doors or having the capacity reduced for future games, what happened just couldn`t be laid to rest.

Today, the club has announced that it has given ‘life-time` bans to 5 supporters guilty of intruding on to the pitch whilst other supporters, who were caught on CCTV hurling coins have also been banned for life.

In the official words of the club, it had to be seen to take,

“swift and decisive action”

Something it appears to have done.

The Hammers, like all the Premier League clubs, don`t play this weekend due to the international break, however, when we welcome Southampton to the London Stadium on 31 March, it`ll be interesting to gauge the mod of the fans, many of whom were not satisfied with the way the club was being run when it all kicked off against Burnley.
