West Ham manager left the City of Manchester Stadium feeling his side deserved better for the second time in five days. He told whufc.com:

‘We are disappointed we only took a point. We probably deserved to be the first team to win here. We have played here twice now and probably should have got more than we have out of the two games.’

Curbishley emphasised the club’s ambitions as he spoke of catching up with the team chasing European football:

‘We had an opportunity to try and bridge the gap between us and ninth. That is what we are looking to do and the next game if we take the three points we will start steadily doing that.’ He added: ‘The run-in starts now for us.’

Although it is hard to disagree that we should have won, Curbishley can be pleased with the progress of his injury hit squad and fans can dream of a brighter future if and when we have a full strength side available.
