Friday night, at the London Stadium, was a painful experience.

After taking four points out of the six available, in our Premier League games against Swansea (h) and Burnley (a), it was hoped that the Hammers had turned the corner.

But Brighton blew West Ham away with a confident display that exposed all those fragilities of earlier in the season.

This Wednesday evening, West Ham United make a rare appearance at Wembley, as they go head-to-head with their London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, in a League Cup tie.

Watching Tottenham dismantle Liverpool, on Sunday, brought a lump to my throat and, unless the Hammers can up their game considerably, it could be a painful experience.

But football has a habit of surprising you and perhaps Wednesday evening will fit that bill.

However, before we can fully concentrate on the game against Tottenham Hotspur, we need to seek closure (if that`s possible) on the game against Brighton by naming who you voted for as your man-of-the-match.

Two contenders emerged ahead of the rest of the pack – Joe Hart and Pablo Zabaleta – and it was the latter that took the honour taking 52% of the votes cast.

Here at Vital West Ham we thank you for your participation.

Our latest poll asks a very searching question relating to the future of Slaven Bilic, please consider all three options before using your vote!
