And Another Hammer Looks To Be Heading Into The Championship On Loan

|

Back in the January transfer window, with the club looking to turn their fortunes around, the Hammers paid Preston North End a reported £10 million for Jordan Hugill.

The transfer, which went through on transfer deadline day, was supposed to add some firepower to the West Ham attack.

However, matters didn’t work out quite that way with the striker being restricted to just twenty-two minutes of Premier League action, hardly the contribution you’d expect from a player we’d paid so much cash for.

Now, with the summer transfer window closing a week on Thursday, it is looking highly unlikely that the forward will be with the club once the big kick-off arrives.

According to the popular tabloid publication, the Sun, and also backed up by postings on the social media networks;

Hugill could well be following a familiar path, going to Aston Villa on loan for the season with our source suggesting that the Aston Villa manager, Steve Bruce, spoke to the Hammers about just such a move earlier this week.

It’s, on the evidence of last season, hard to make a case for Hugill to remain at the club this season, he may have looked good in pre-season but you get the feeling Manuel Pellegrini has other plans when it comes to fielding an attack that can capitalise on the chances our summer signings will, inevitably, produce.

Here at Vital West Ham, we’ll keep an eye out for any further development and report back accordingly.
