An Austrian Centre Back Could Be Summer Signing Number Eight

|

After at the time, breaking the club record transfer fee to bring a central defender to the club, in Issa Diop, it is now being suggested that West Ham are in the race to sign another central defender.

According to the popular tabloid publication, the Sun, West Ham are taking a vested interest in the Austrian international defender, Martin Hinteregger.

Hinteregger, who is 25-years-of-age is currently on the books of the Bundesliga club, Augsburg and is rated in the £13 million bracket.

The defender is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in German football and his displays have also attracted the attention of other clubs, notably Inter Milan and our Premier League rivals Everton.

But, our referenced source is also championing the suggestion that the Austrian fancies trying his luck in the hustle and bustle of the Premier League.

However, any proposed deal would depend on whether Augsburg are willing to do a deal with the German club under no financial pressure to do so.

Opinion – Here at Vital West Ham, we’re not sure if the speculation reported above rings true, especially as it is the general feeling that the club are looking, as the new season approaches, to bring in a striker. But, the way events have unfolded this summer nothing would surprise me.

So, is there a chance that Martin Hinteregger could be summer signing number eight?

I wouldn’t rule it out!
