“Absolutely shocking from the owners” – A lot of West Ham United fans are furious to hear how James Collins was treated before he left the club.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, the ex-Hammers defender claimed that he still did not know if he was going to be kept at the club until the last day of the 2017/18 season.
The former Welsh international was then told after the game that his contract would not be renewed, and he felt that the whole situation could have been handled very differently.
Collins points out that he spent 11 years as a Hammer making 214 appearances in two different spells for the club – yet he was left to stew and then finally told that they would not be keeping him on.
Collins revealed that he didn’t even get the chance to say his goodbyes!
Would you have Collins back?
Yes, his experience could help the defence
No, Too old
The West Ham board have made some awful decisions over the years, and this is another one to add to the list.
To treat a player who spent so long at West Ham like that is disgraceful and heartless, and these Hammers supporters have not held back in their assessment of the situation.

”There’s only one ginger Pele” top-class professional. Zero class from the owners. If you want loyalty from your players than we need to treat them with the respect they deserve.
