Another name has been thrown into the hat with regards to the acquisition of a striker to alleviate our current crisis.

Springing to the forefront from nowhere is the Sunderland striker Connor Wickham.

Wickham, an England U21 international, is approaching the final year of his contract up at Sunderland and is said to be reluctant to sign a new contract, promoting the suggestion that Gus Poyet would, if his contract stance doesn`t change, sell him.

Last season Wickham spent loan spells on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United before returning to Wearside to score five valuable goals that ensured Sunderland staved off relegation.

No fee is actually mentioned when it comes to the gossip we stumbled upon which, to me, doesn`t give this particular rumour the foundations upon which deals are done, but I could be wrong, after all I have been numerous times before!
