West Ham’s strong U23s continue to impress in PL 2

|

West Ham United’s U23 side jumped up to second in the Premier League 2 table after an impressive win against Tottenham Hotspur U23s earlier this week.

Following the squad’s great start to the season, West Ham’s U23s’ recorded a 4-3 victory over Spurs U23s, which takes them into second place and four points behind league leaders Manchester City.

In previous years, the U23s haven’t always done that well in the league. Last season they finished 11th in the league and only managed to secure six wins from 24 games.

However, manager Dmitri Halajko has taken them to new heights this term, helping them to five victories already in this campaign.

The team has already beaten the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs and have shown an excellent level of scoring and attacking prowess. Particularly the likes of Alexander Oko-Flex and Thierry Nevers, who have scored five goals and two goals respectively, have impressed.

Despite a slightly rocky start to the campaign, they have now won four games in a row in all competitions and are continuing to showcase how strong West Ham’s youth prospects are.

This is particularly promising for David Moyes, who may look to this squad to bring up youth players in the future. Ben Johnson is one example of how this could be done, and he performed excellently against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

It is important for the club that the U23s are competing well and they have started off emphatically so far in this campaign.
