Following his sending-off, against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup, for spitting, Arthur Masuaku has taken to the social network sight, Twitter, to offer an apology.

The Frenchman, who faces a lengthy ban for the offence, used his Twitter account to offer the following apology:

‘I let down my team-mates, the manager, coaches, board and the fans.

‘I am very sad because the manager and coaches have put a lot of faith in me, but I will work very hard to win try and win that back.

‘It was in the heat of the moment and out of character for me, but I know it was totally unacceptable and I will learn from the first red card of my career.’

Hopefully, that will be a lesson learned and Masuaku can move on, although with a lengthy ban set to be handed out, we`ll probably not see the player back in first-team action until March!
