West Ham Will Not Be Offering Free Agent A Contract

After a very prolific summer transfer window, a window that, to be honest, exceeded all our expectations, speculation had linked West Ham United with the acquisition of another player.

With the transfer window, for the Premier League officially shut, clubs are only able to sign players who are not contracted to another club.

The aforementioned speculation linked West Ham with one such player.

According to the news source, the Sun, the player the Hammers we interested in was Yaya Toure, a move that would have seen Manuel Pellegrini reunited with a player who he is very familiar with courtesy of his time in the Manchester City hot-seat.

Toure, after eight years at Manchester City, is a free agent, after his contract expired and wasn’t renewed.

However, it appears that there will be no contract offered to the player by West Ham with Pellegrini quoted by our referenced source as remarking:

“Yaya Toure is a good player, he will always be a good player, but for the moment he is not for West Ham. For the moment, the squad is complete.”

To us, not signing the Ivory Coast midfielder makes perfect sense. At 35-years-of-age, Toure’s best days are behind him, he’d be nothing more than a squad player at the London Stadium and although he’s on a free transfer, his salary would probably add a substantial amount to our financial out-goings.

However, we do wish Yaya all the best for the future and we’re sure there will be another club out there that will snap him up, but it won’t be us.
