West Ham still in the running for sought after Championship star – report

|

Links between West Ham and Salomón Rondón seem to be constantly dying down then resurfacing again, and according to football.london, there is still a chance of the move materialising.

There are a host of clubs said to be interested in the Venezuelan striker though, with it seemingly inevitable that he will leave West Bromwich Albion in the summer.

His form last season for Newcastle United – who are one of the teams linked – is a big reason behind the interest, as he scored 11 goals and assisted seven in 32 appearances for the Magpies.

He offers much more than that though, as his link-up play with Ayoze Pérez and Miguel Almiron was the envy of many teams outside the top six, and the Venezuelan is also a threat from free-kicks.

Having sold Lucas Pérez and released Andy Carroll – and Javier Hernandez also being set to leave according to ExWHUEmployee – West Ham are in need of at least two new strikers this summer, and Rondón could fit the bill well.

However, the Hammers are seemingly keeping their options open at the moment regarding who they sign, with the Evening Standard linking the likes of Aleksandar Mitrović and Maxi Gomez with a move to East London.

The Rondón links, though, are likewise refusing to go away.
