West Ham prepare late push to sign 14-goal ace despite mega money alternative – report

|

West Ham United are preparing an offer for Birmingham City striker Che Adams, despite reports suggesting that the Irons are about to break their club record transfer fee for Maxi Gomez.

The Daily Star are reporting that Birmingham’s ace hitman has become a late Hammers target, and that they will make an approach for the 22-year-old on deadline day.

So far this season, Adams has featured for Garry Monk’s side on 30 occasions, in which he has scored 14 goals.

All of the English centre-forward’s successful strikes have come in the Championship, and that has caught the eye of West Ham, who are looking to strengthen their attacking options.

It is suggested by the Daily Star that the Hammers will offer Birmingham £10million for Adam’s services, despite the St Andrew’s club stating that the striker is not for sale, even though they are under an EFL imposed transfer embargo.

The suggested bid also comes despite the Hammers’ growing interest in Celta Vigo’s Gomez, who they are looking to sign in a club-record £43.5million deal by triggering his buyout clause.

However, the interest in both likely stems from Celta’s hopes of retaining Gomez on loan for the remainder of the season in order to boost their chances of La Liga survival.
