West Ham may need to be patient in pursuit of striker

|

It has been reported by ExWHUEmployee that negotiations for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gómez could last all  summer, as it is uncertain whether other clubs will bid for him and what price the Hammers will be able to get him for.

With this in mind, Mario Husillos and West Ham will need to be incredibly patient if they are to secure the 12 time Uruguay international.

The Hammers have been quick and ruthless in their transfer dealings so far in this window, as was epitomised with the recruitment of Roberto and David Martin, as well as the sale of Lucas Pérez.

However, this deal will test Husillos’ abilities, as this is a much longer game he will be playing and any deal would also be the first time this window he had beaten opponents to a big name signing, as Valencia are also interested in Gomez as reported by Marca.

With the exodus of strikers the club has seen so far this summer, bringing in a quality forward is arguably the most important signing the Hammers will make this season.

Gómez has shown reliability in front of goal with 13 strikes in 33 La Liga starts and two substitute appearances this season and is seemingly Pellegrini’s preferred target, so if the Hammers secure his services it will be worth the wait.
